Basque Country Marks 50 Years of Sahrawi Republic with Solidarity for Western Sahara

The associations of the Sahrawi community in the Basque Country commemorated the 50th anniversary of the declaration of the founding of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, by organizing a celebration in the city of Bilbao, during which the achievements accomplished over the past five decades were reviewed.
The event was attended by the head of the Sahrawi community in Europe, the Polisario Front’s representative in the region and representatives of Basque political parties, according to the Sahrawi news agency SPS. Speakers from the Basque solidarity movement delivered a series of addresses, all of which reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Sahrawi people and their commitment to standing by them in their struggle to secure their legitimate rights to self-determination and independence, sustaining their resilience and amplifying their voice in international forums.
The celebration’s program varied between political and cultural segments, culminating in the organization of a large march that traversed the main streets of the city of Bilbao, during which demonstrators chanted slogans rejecting the Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara.
