Kremlin: Ukraine Must Withdraw From Donbass for Ceasefire Talks

Dmitry Peskov said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must order Ukrainian forces to withdraw from Donbass and other Russian-controlled regions if Ukraine wants a ceasefire and comprehensive peace negotiations with Russia.
According to Peskov, a ceasefire would only become possible once Ukrainian troops leave territories claimed by Moscow.
The Kremlin spokesman also warned that any future negotiations on the Ukraine conflict would be “extremely difficult” and involve numerous sensitive issues requiring lengthy discussions.
Peskov added that Moscow remains in regular contact with the United States regarding the situation in Ukraine and expressed hope that broader Russian-American cooperation projects could advance once Washington stops linking bilateral issues to the Ukraine conflict.
He also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the recent test of the RS-28 Sarmat ballistic missile, describing the tests as important for Russia’s long-term security.
Peskov said Russia informs other countries of missile launches such as the Sarmat test in accordance with international practices, adding that Moscow has not yet received an official reaction from the United States regarding the launch.
