Algeria Participates in Two Anti-Corruption Sessions in Austria

Algeria, represented by the President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Fight against Corruption, Salima Mesrati, will participate starting on Monday at the headquarters of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in the Austrian capital Vienna, in the proceedings of two sessions on combating corruption.

Mesrati is set to lead a delegation composed of officials from the High Authority and representatives from the Ministry of Justice to take part in the 17th session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, as well as the 17th session of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption, the Authority said in a statement.

This participation comes as “a reaffirmation of Algeria’s commitment to strengthening international cooperation and exchanging expertise and experiences in the field of corruption prevention and anti-corruption efforts, as well as continuing its active engagement in UN mechanisms related to the implementation of the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption,” the statement said.

The proceedings will address a number of priority topics, including “access to information, strengthening integrity and anti-corruption education for children and young people, as well as corruption in the field of sports, in light of the work programme of the subsidiary bodies of the Conference of the States Parties for the 2026–2027 period.”

Through this participation, the Authority reaffirms “its steadfast commitment to promoting the values of integrity and transparency, as well as its determination to keep pace with best practices and successful experiences among States Parties, and to examine the challenges associated with implementing the preventive measures stipulated in the Convention,” according to the statement.
