
The CEO of Algeria’s Sonelgaz, Khaled Nouasri, held a series of meetings with officials from the energy sector in the Republic of Niger, during his working visit from May 14 to 16.
The visit aimed to monitor the progress of construction work on a power generation plant in the capital, Niamey, according to a statement issued by the Sonelgaz Group.
During his visit, Nouasri held a meeting with the Director General of the Nigerien electricity company NIGELEC as well as the company’s Secretary General. The discussions focused on various aspects related to the progress of this strategic project and the prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of electrical energy.
He also met with Niger’s Minister of Energy, Haoua Amadou, where both sides underscored the importance of the project in boosting electricity generation capacity and expanding energy access. The initiative was described as a reflection of the “deep ties of cooperation and solidarity between Algeria and Niger,” as well as an embodiment of the Algerian leadership’s commitment to strengthening African partnerships and supporting brotherly nations in strategic development projects.
According to the statement, Nouasri inspected the progress of works at the site, where operations are advancing at a “steady pace” in line with the established roadmap, reflecting “Sonelgaz Group’s commitment to meeting the set deadlines and ensuring the project is completed in accordance with the highest technical standards and required quality levels.”
