Sudan: Army Recaptures ‘Khor Hassan’ Station in Blue Nile

The Sudanese army announced on Friday that it had regained control of the “Khor Hassan” station, located southeast of the city of Al-Kurmok in Blue Nile State, as part of the ongoing military operations on the southern axis of the state.

According to local media citing a military source, the armed forces managed to enter the site on Friday, noting that the station is located about 25 kilometers from Al-Kurmok.

The Rapid Support Forces had taken control last April of the city of Al-Kurmok and nearby positions, before the army launched counteroffensive operations to retake them.

Since April 2023, Sudan has been gripped by an armed conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has killed thousands and displaced millions of people.

According to the United Nations, the conflict has displaced more than 12 million people, while nearly half of the population is facing severe food insecurity.
