The European Union Provides Emergency Financial Support to Palestine Worth €122.5 Million

The European Union announced on Thursday that it is providing €122.5 million in short-term emergency financial support to Palestine. According to the EU statement, this support includes €38.5 million in grants to pay civil service salaries in the West Bank, and €84 million through credit facilities for the Palestinian Monetary Authority provided by the European Investment Bank.

The statement noted that this disbursement is the second contribution under the €400 million short-term emergency financial support package announced by the EU in July 2024. The package is part of a strategy agreed upon between the EU and Palestine to address the critical financial and budgetary situation of the Palestinian government and economy. It comprises a mix of grants and loans, with the first installment of €150 million having already been disbursed in July.
