Erdogan, Zelenskyy Hold Talks in Ankara Ahead of Russia-Ukraine Peace Negotiations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy began their meeting on Thursday at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, as part of diplomatic efforts ahead of anticipated Russia-Ukraine peace talks.

Following the one-on-one discussions, both delegations are expected to continue talks over a working lunch. Zelenskyy arrived in Ankara earlier in the day, landing at Esenboga Airport at 12:14 p.m. local time, where he was received by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and other officials attending a NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Antalya.

According to Turkey’s Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, the talks will cover the full scope of developments in the ongoing war in Ukraine. Erdogan is also expected to emphasize Turkey’s consistent call for an immediate ceasefire and the launch of peace negotiations.
