Sudan Accuses UAE of Direct Involvement in Khartoum Airport Drone Attack, Vows Response

The Sudanese government announced Tuesday the involvement of the United Arab Emirates in the drone attack on Khartoum Airport on Monday, affirming Sudan’s determination to exercise its right to respond to this aggression.
According to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohi El-Din Salem, the Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, and the official spokesperson of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Asim Awad Abdelwahab, revealed the existence of “conclusive evidence obtained by the government and the competent authorities confirming this aggression, in addition to new evidence of several violations carried out by Emirati drones this year.”
At a joint press conference in Khartoum, the officials said that “the Government of Sudan, its people, and its armed forces have the right to respond at a time and place of their choosing.” They noted that “the attacks carried out yesterday by drones targeted Khartoum Airport and nearby residential neighborhoods, in addition to military sites in Khartoum Bahri and Omdurman.” They considered this to represent “a serious violation of state sovereignty,” stressing that the Sudanese Armed Forces “will not be lenient in protecting their territory.”
The Sudanese officials added that “analysis of the drone wreckage showed that it bears the number S88, and the manufacturing company confirmed that it belongs to the UAE.” They affirmed that “the direct aggression by the UAE will not go unanswered,” stressing that “the Sudanese army is at the highest level of readiness to deal with various scenarios.” Local sources had reported yesterday that the surroundings of Khartoum International Airport were subjected to a drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces, as several drones targeted the airport perimeter and its facilities, leading to fires breaking out in some places in the area, amid a state of security alert and efforts to control the situation and prevent the spread of flames to other installations.
