Poland Begins First Round of Presidential Election

Polish voters began casting their ballots on Sunday for the first round of the presidential election, with Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski remaining the favorite.
Polling stations opened at 07:00 local time (05:00 GMT) and will close at 19:00 GMT. An exit poll is expected to be released shortly afterward.
A total of thirteen candidates are running, and the final results will be announced on Monday.
Trzaskowski leads the race with around 30% of voter intentions and could face nationalist historian Karol Nawrocki, who has 25%, in the second round, scheduled for June 1st.
The final outcome of the election will largely depend on the second-round votes of Slawomir Mentzen’s supporters, a far-right candidate who is in third place with approximately 12% of the vote intentions.
