Algeria, Oman Sign Key Transport Agreements to Deepen Bilateral Cooperation

Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in Algiers on Tuesday, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the transport sector, the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport said in a statement.

The agreements were concluded during an expanded working session co-chaired by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Said Sayoud, and the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman, Said bin Hamood bin Said Al Mawali.

The session brought together officials and senior executives from both countries’ transport sectors, in the presence of the Minister, High Commissioner for Digitalization, Meriem Ben Mouloud.

In the maritime transport sector, an MoU was signed between the port services group Serport and Oman’s Asyad Group, with a view to strengthening cooperation and sharing expertise in port management and port services.

An MoU on airport ground services cooperation was also signed between the Airport Services and Infrastructure Management Company (SGSIA), which is managing the Algiers Houari Boumediene International Airport, and its Omani counterpart, with the aim of improving service quality and enhancing operational performance at airports.

In addition, the two sides agreed on an executive cooperation program covering various transport sectors, mirroring the shared commitment to boosting the partnership and intensifying coordination between the two countries.

The ministry further noted that the meeting was also devoted to further exploring “ways to develop the partnership and strengthen coordination across all modes of transport,” while underlining “the importance of ramping up cooperation and exchanging expertise in the service of both countries’ shared interests.” Sayoud stressed “his full readiness to continue coordination and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman across all transport sectors, and to support all initiatives aimed at advancing bilateral partnership.” Ben Mouloud also highlighted “her readiness to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences and expertise with the Omani side in digitalization, in support of the digital transformation process, the modernization of management systems and the development of services.” For his part, Al Mawali extended his sincere thanks and gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality shown to him and his accompanying delegation, commending the quality of organization and support that marked the various stages of the visit.
