Iran, China Hold High-Level Talks in Beijing Amid Escalating Regional Tensions

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing, according to Chinese state media, as Tehran intensifies diplomatic efforts in response to mounting regional tensions.
Araghchi’s visit comes amid ongoing US-Zionist escalation, forming part of a broader diplomatic push that has recently taken him to Russia, Oman, and Pakistan. These engagements are aimed at mobilizing international support to halt the conflict and prevent further destabilization across the Middle East.
For its part, China has consistently called for a ceasefire and the preservation of freedom of navigation, while reiterating its support for Iran’s sovereignty and security. Chinese officials have also maintained that economic and energy cooperation with Tehran remains in line with international legal frameworks, despite external pressure.
The visit also precedes an anticipated trip to Beijing by US President Donald Trump, with the evolving Middle East crisis expected to feature prominently on the agenda. Against this backdrop, China continues to position itself as a key diplomatic actor, balancing its strategic partnerships while resisting calls to curtail its trade relations with Iran.
