Algeria’s Army General Chanegriha Oversees Live-Fire Tactical Exercise in 3rd Military Region: MOD

ALGIERS, May 13, 2026 – The Algerian Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army (ANP), Army General Saïd Chanegriha, on Wednesday supervised in the 3rd Military Region the execution of an inter-forces live-fire tactical exercise dubbed “Fakhr 2026,” the Ministry of National Defence (MDN) said in a statement.
“On the second day of his visit to the 3rd Military Region, Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, supervised this Wednesday, May 13, 2026, an inter-forces live-fire tactical exercise ‘Fakhr 2026,’ carried out by the 40th Mechanized Infantry Division, supported by units from the various Forces and Arms,” the same source specified.
At the outset of the activity, the Army General attended a presentation delivered by the Commander of the 3rd Military Region and the Commander of the 40th Mechanized Infantry Division on the general concept of the tactical exercise, the stages of its execution and its objectives.
At the Hammaguir firing and manoeuvres range, the Army General, accompanied by the Commander of the 3rd Military Region, observed the combat actions carried out by the participating units.
“These actions were marked throughout all phases by professionalism and a high tactical and operational level. They once again confirmed the combat capabilities of personnel and commands at all levels, particularly in terms of optimal use of terrain and close coordination between the various participating units, in addition to the high competence of commanders in planning, conducting and coordinating combat actions, as well as the know-how and mastery by personnel of the different weapons systems and equipment placed at their disposal,” the statement added.
“The results of this exercise were highly satisfactory, reflected in the accuracy of firing with the different weapons, as well as strict adherence to the established plans and timings,” the same source noted.
At the end of the exercise, Army General Chanegriha met with the personnel of the units that took part in the exercise, which was “a success at all levels, in planning, preparation and execution alike, thus reflecting the level of preparedness of commanders and personnel and the pool of skills possessed by commands and staff headquarters.”
He congratulated the commanders and participating units for the efforts made throughout the 2025/2026 combat preparation year, stressing “his determination to spare no effort in ensuring the promotion and development of all components of the ANP, in a manner that reassures the Algerian people and strengthens their confidence in the present and future of their country.”
At the conclusion, Army General Chanegriha reviewed the units of the 40th Mechanized Infantry Division and the formations that participated in the exercise, the MDN statement concluded.
