Senior UK Minister Resigns, Calls for Leadership Contest Against PM Starmer

UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting has resigned and called for a leadership contest to replace Prime Minister Keir Starmer, amid mounting political pressure following poor local election results.
In his resignation, Streeting said Starmer lacked clear direction and argued that Labour should hold an open leadership race to determine its future leadership.
The move intensifies an internal crisis within the Labour Party, with several MPs reportedly questioning Starmer’s leadership after a series of electoral setbacks and growing internal dissent.
