Algeria: Minister Arkab to attend 113th OAPEC Council of Ministers meeting in Kuwait

Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Arkab, will participate in the 113th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) in Kuwait on Sunday, according to a statement from the Algerian Ministry on Saturday.
The meeting will address several key agenda items, primarily the organization’s 2025 budget and development blueprint.
Among the issues to be discussed are reports prepared by the General Secretariat on global developments in the oil and gas sector, as well as a review of ongoing OAPEC projects, particularly those aimed at improving the organization’s information technology systems and its training and development programs.
The meeting will also cover important initiatives, such as promoting the concept of a circular carbon economy, and will include a discussion of the Secretary-General’s report on the organization’s activities in 2024. Additionally, the Council will consider a decision to increase the value of OAPEC’s scientific research award to encourage innovation in the energy and petroleum sectors.
“This meeting is an important opportunity to enhance regional Arab cooperation in the energy and petroleum sectors and to stay abreast of global developments in this crucial field,” the Algerian ministry said.
The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) was established as a regional Arab organization with an international character under an agreement signed in Beirut on January 9, 1968. Its mission is to foster cooperation among member countries in petroleum-related economic activities and to strengthen relations within this field.
