Trump Signals Possible US-Iran Talks Within 72 Hours as Pakistan Mediates

US President Donald Trump indicated on Wednesday that a second round of negotiations between United States and Iran could take place within the next “36 to 72 hours,” amid ongoing mediation efforts by Pakistan.

Trump confirmed the possibility in remarks to the New York Post, while Pakistani sources suggested the proposed timeframe reflects continued diplomatic engagement by Islamabad with Tehran. Iranian authorities have not yet confirmed whether new talks have been scheduled.

The development follows Trump’s decision to delay further action, giving Iran time to consolidate a unified negotiating position amid reported internal divisions within its leadership.

According to Pakistani sources cited by the newspaper, a ceasefire between the two sides remains in place despite heightened rhetoric, with no signs of military escalation so far.
