The Sahrawi Foreign Minister attends the TICAD meeting, refuting Moroccan claims of SADR exclusion

Tokyo – The Sahrawi participation at the ministerial meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) on Saturday morning has refuted the Moroccan propaganda of the exclusion of Western Sahara from the meeting.

The Sahrawi delegation is composed of the Foreign Minister, Mohamed Sidati, accompanied by the Sahrawi Republic’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamin Baali, who attended the experts’ meeting yesterday.

Before the meeting began, the Sahrawi Foreign Minister had several discussions with his African counterparts to exchange views on the meeting’s topics, as well as on the unfortunate events that occurred during yesterday’s experts’ meeting, according to the Sahara Press Service (SPS).

Following a scandalous incident of a Moroccan diplomat physically attacking the Sahrawi ambassador to steal the sign bearing the name of the Sahrawi Republic at yesterday’s experts’ meeting, several African diplomats denounced the assault and expressed solidarity with the Sahrawi delegation, added the same source.

Accordingly, a journalist from the SPS observed that the aforementioned Moroccan ambassador attended today’s ministerial meeting surrounded by two Japanese security guards to ensure he does not disrupt the meeting again.
