Sudan: Arab League Condemns Drone Strikes on Strategic Sites in Khartoum

The League of Arab States expressed its strongest condemnation of Tuesday’s attack that targeted at least three strategic sites in Sudan’s Khartoum state, including Khartoum International Airport, using drones.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, said in a statement that the targeting of civilian facilities and vital infrastructure, launched this time from bases outside Sudanese territory, represents a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional peace and security, and exacerbates the humanitarian and security situation in Sudan.
Aboul Gheit warned that such actions, regardless of their source, are aimed at widening the scope of the conflict and undermining Arab, African and international efforts toward de-escalation, in order to create conditions for an inclusive Sudanese civilian dialogue that preserves the country’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and fulfills its people’s aspirations for security, peace and stability.
He also affirmed the Arab League’s full solidarity with Sudan in preserving its security, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and maintaining its infrastructure and national institutions, calling on all parties to refrain from any actions or positions that would obstruct the intensive regional and international efforts to reach a comprehensive ceasefire, revive the Jeddah declaration and launch an inclusive national civilian dialogue.
