Seoul “Won’t Sit Idle” Regarding North Korean Troops in Russia.

In a significant development, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol stated that Seoul may “review” the possibility of supplying weapons to Ukraine in light of intelligence reports indicating that 3,000 North Korean troops have been dispatched to bolster Russia’s military efforts. Yoon described this troop deployment as a “provocation” that poses a serious threat to global security. His remarks came following a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Seoul, underscoring the international ramifications of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The situation escalates as Russian lawmakers have also moved forward with ratifying a defense treaty with North Korea, which outlines provisions for “mutual assistance” in the event of aggression against either nation. This development indicates a tightening of military ties between Moscow and Pyongyang, further complicating the security landscape in Northeast Asia.
