Putin in Kursk: Russia’s President Highlights Unity and Resolve Amid Border Tensions

Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to the Kursk region, near the border with Ukraine, where he held a series of strategic and symbolic engagements against the backdrop of continued hostilities. The visit underscored Moscow’s commitment to strengthening internal cohesion and fortifying frontline territories.

During his trip, Putin met with local volunteers, visited the construction site of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant-2, and convened a strategic meeting with regional officials in the city of Kurchatov. He praised the local population and security forces for their steadfastness during recent Ukrainian incursions, emphasizing that “not a single person flinched—everyone stood firm.”

The Russian president acknowledged the ongoing threat from Ukrainian forces near the border and called for more demining units to be deployed in the region to ensure residents can safely return to their homes. He also praised the role of Russia’s traditional religious institutions in supporting the troops, noting the sacrifices made by clergy on the frontlines. Putin denounced the demolition of WWII monuments in Ukraine and the West, linking such actions to neo-Nazi ideology and efforts to erase cultural memory.

Putin reaffirmed his confidence in Russia’s eventual victory, attributing it to the unity of the Russian people. “We are one united people,” he declared, as he highlighted the challenges endured by border communities and vowed to strengthen the nation’s defense and resilience.
