Palestine: Around 350 Students Detained in Zionist Entity’ Prisons

Around 350 Palestinian students are currently detained in the prisons of the Zionist occupation, under “harsh” conditions, the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education stated Thursday.

The detainees are subjected to “severe” interrogations, isolation and deprivation of access to education, the Ministry said in a statement published on the eve of the Palestinian Prisoner Day, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Based on documented testimonies from detained children and students, the ministry underlined that many of them were arrested under “traumatizing” conditions.

It also reported medical negligence and mistreatment, stressing that some detainees have been prevented from continuing their schooling.

These practices constitute a “flagrant violation” of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and international standards guaranteeing the right to education and protection, the ministry added, stressing that the detention of students is not a series of isolated incidents but part of a deliberate policy designed to jeopardize their futures.

In this respect, the ministry urged international and human rights organizations, particularly those working for children’s rights and education, to assume their responsibilities and act to put an end to these practices and demand accountability.
