ISLAMABAD, February 21, 2025 – Two police officers were killed and another injured during an attack by unidentified assailants on a checkpoint in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan, local media reported on Friday, citing police officials.
“The attack occurred on Thursday at approximately 8:40 PM local time on the outskirts of Quetta, the provincial capital. The injured officer was transported to the hospital for treatment,” the sources added, noting that security forces have initiated a search operation in the area to capture the attackers who fled following the assault.
Balochistan, the largest province in the country by area, has experienced a rise in armed assaults in recent months, frequently targeting security personnel.
