Twenty-seven agreements were signed Thursday in Nouakchott between Algerian economic operators and their Mauritanian counterparts in several fields, including health services, on the sidelines of the 8th edition of the Fair of Algerian Products and Services.
The signing ceremony was attended by Algeria’s ambassador to Mauritania Amine Sid, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade, a representative of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), the president of the Algerian-Mauritanian Business Council, representatives of the National Federation of Algerian Exporters, as well as the president of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, the director general of the Mauritanian Investment Promotion Agency, and a large number of business operators from both countries, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion.
The agreements cover various strategic sectors, reflecting the “continued success of this fair, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, in strengthening Algerian-Mauritanian economic partnership”.
Among the agreements is a commercial contract signed by “Elsewedy Cables” worth 15 million US dollars, according to the same source.
The company “Sym – Algeria Ham Motors”, specialized in motorcycle manufacturing, also featured prominently in the signed agreements.
Algerian public companies also secured several deals, including the Sonarem Group, which through its subsidiary ENOF signed two memorandums of understanding for the export of metallic materials to the Mauritanian market, namely dolomite and bentonite used in drilling, as well as calcium carbonate, with the possibility of expanding the range in the future.
In the health services sector, the Algerian clinic “El Azhar” signed four memorandums of understanding and cooperation with Mauritanian public and private health institutions, reflecting the growing presence of Algerian services abroad and increasing confidence in Algerian medical expertise in the Mauritanian market, particularly in care provision, health services, and specialized hospital services.
The fair, which runs until May 11, will see the signing of additional agreements and partnerships in the coming days between Algerian and Mauritanian operators in several strategic sectors, reflecting the economic momentum generated by the event and its growing role as a platform for cooperation and investment between the two countries.
