Morocco’s diesel price reaches $1.13 per litre, highest in the Arab world

The price of diesel varies significantly across countries, influenced by factors such as local fuel markets, subsidies, and government regulations. According to the latest data from Global Petrol Prices, the price of diesel in Morocco has reached $1.13 per litre, making it the highest among Arab countries.
In contrast, Libya and Algeria have some of the lowest diesel prices in the region. Libya’s diesel price is remarkably low at just $0.031 per litre, while Algeria’s price is slightly higher at $0.22 per litre.
The significant price disparity underscores the economic challenges faced by consumers in countries with higher fuel prices, while also highlighting the impact of subsidies in countries where diesel prices are kept low.
On an international level, the price of diesel in the United States stood at $3.50 per gallon as of December 16, 2024, reflecting a significant decline from the surge experienced in 2022 and part of 2023, which was largely driven by supply constraints.
