Algerian-Cameroonian talks to enhance bilateral cooperation and UN coordination

ALGIERS – Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Affairs, Ahamed Attaf, held talks on Saturday with the Minister of External Relations of Cameroon, Lejeune Mbella Mbella, who is on an official visit to Algeria, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Minister Attaf welcomed Mbella Mbella, and the two engaged in private bilateral discussions, followed by a broader working session, the statement said.
The working session focused on reviewing the bonds of cooperation and solidarity between the two nations, as well as exploring ways to elevate these ties in accordance with the directives of their respective leaders, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and President Paul Biya of Cameroon, the statement added.
During the meeting, both parties emphasised the need to strengthen the tradition of mutual consultation, particularly concerning developments in their respective regions, as well as issues of peace, security, and development in Africa. They also discussed enhancing coordination within the United Nations, with Algeria holding a non-permanent seat on the Security Council and Cameroon presiding over the UN General Assembly.
Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was signed to facilitate the movement of people between the two countries.
