More Than 270 Afghans Killed in Cross-Border Clashes, Pakistani Army Says

The Pakistani army said Friday that 274 Afghans had been killed and more than 400 injured in cross-border clashes with Afghanistan since Thursday.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, stated that Afghan insurgents opened fire and carried out attacks at 53 locations across 15 sectors along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border.
He said Pakistani security forces repelled the attacks and conducted targeted counter-operations.
According to the spokesperson, Pakistani airstrikes targeted 22 sites across Afghanistan, including in the provinces of Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika. He said the strikes hit military headquarters, brigade and battalion facilities, ammunition depots, logistical bases, and locations described as militant hideouts.
Chaudhry stated that 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed, 27 wounded, and one soldier remains missing.
Separately, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Afghan government, said Friday that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed and several others captured during retaliatory operations.
Mujahid stated that the Afghan government continues to emphasize peaceful solutions and advocates for a constructive and non-violent approach to resolving the situation.
Tensions between the two neighboring countries have escalated in recent days amid increased violence by armed groups in border regions.
