Kremlin: Putin’s Visit to China to Take Place ‘Very Soon’

The Kremlin announced on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to China “very soon,” adding that preparations for the visit have already been completed. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the upcoming trip without specifying an exact date.
The visit comes amid deepening strategic coordination between Moscow and Beijing, at a time of growing geopolitical tensions with Western countries and ongoing developments related to the conflict in Ukraine. Russian and Chinese leaders have intensified diplomatic exchanges in recent years, presenting their partnership as a counterbalance to Western influence in global affairs.
President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have met more than 40 times over the past years, most recently in Beijing last September. In February 2022, Moscow and Beijing signed what they described as a “no limits” strategic partnership shortly before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
The announcement also coincides with the ongoing visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to China, in a period marked by intensified diplomatic activity among major global powers. Analysts view the expected Putin-Xi meeting as part of broader efforts by both countries to strengthen political, economic, and security cooperation in response to shifting international dynamics.
