Gabon Lifts Curfew to Ensure Peaceful Festive Season Amid Transition

Gabonese authorities announced on Thursday the suspension of the curfew that had been in effect since August 2023. This decision was made to allow citizens to celebrate the end-of-year holidays in peace and harmony.

Félicien Koyi, the Cabinet Director of the Minister of Defense, made the announcement during a broadcast on Gabon 24. He stated that the transitional president wanted to offer the opportunity for all Gabonese people to celebrate the holiday season in a calm and unified manner.

Koyi also highlighted that this measure reflects the president’s ongoing effort to support economic operators across all sectors. It underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining stability and promoting a peaceful environment for both social and economic activities in the country.
