France has concluded the training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics to operate Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets, according to reports from French media. The six-month program, conducted at a base in Nancy, prepared the personnel for the deployment of these advanced aircraft.
This training initiative aligns with a commitment made by French President Emmanuel Macron in June, who announced the transfer of Mirage 2000 fighters to Ukraine. Macron emphasized that French-supplied weapons would not target civilians on Russian territory. French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed that the aircraft would be delivered in the first quarter of 2025.
In November, Frank Giletti, vice chairman of the National Assembly’s Defense and Armed Forces Committee, revealed that six Mirage 2000-5F fighters are set to be sent to Ukraine. The development underscores France’s support for Kyiv in its ongoing conflict with Russia, while adhering to restrictions on the use of its military equipment.
