Football (Champions League): Laporta and Deco express satisfaction despite Barcelona’s loss to Monaco

MADRID – During a meeting with coach Hansi Flick, president of FC Barcelona Joan Laporta and the club’s sporting director, Deco, expressed satisfaction despite the team’s 1-2 defeat against AS Monaco in the Champions League on Thursday, according to media reports on Saturday.

According to the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” confidence in Flick’s project remains high within Barcelona, even after the loss in Monaco. The report noted that Laporta and Deco conveyed this sentiment to Flick during a calm post-match discussion, where they analysed the defeat and agreed to downplay its significance while focussing on learning from mistakes to avoid repetition, especially in the Champions League.

The evaluation of Flick’s work was reported as very positive, and the setback does not affect the good feelings generated by the team in the first five rounds of the Spanish league. The newspaper revealed that Flick communicated a similar message to the players in the locker room, acknowledging the need for self-criticism while maintaining trust in the team and expressing satisfaction with the management’s stance, promising to correct the errors.
