Farmers Storm Westminster with Tractors in Fierce Protest Against Labour’s New Inheritance Tax Plan

A convoy of British farmers drove tractors into Westminster on budget day to protest Labour Chancellor Rachel Reeves’s proposal to impose a 20% inheritance tax on agricultural land and farming businesses valued at over £1 million starting in 2026.
Despite police restrictions prohibiting farm machinery from entering the area, around 20 tractors still managed to reach central London. One tractor carried a sign reading “Fools vote Labour,” while another featured a Christmas tree topped with a “naughty list” naming senior government officials, underscoring the anger brewing in the farming community.
Organisers warn that frustration across the agricultural sector is reaching a breaking point, as farmers face rising costs and increasingly difficult market conditions. Many argue that the proposed tax threatens family-owned farms, rural livelihoods, and even the UK’s long-term food security. This latest demonstration adds to a wave of farmer protests seen across the country in recent months.
