ALGER, April 22, 2026 – The President of the Republic of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, visited Wednesday the Maqam Echahid (Martyrs’ Memorial) in Algiers, where he paid tribute to the martyrs of Algeria’s War of National Liberation.
The Chadian President laid a wreath at the commemorative stele, observed a minute of silence, and recited Al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of the November 1, 1954 Revolution.
He also toured the National Museum of the Moudjahid, where he received detailed explanations on the different stages of Algeria’s history, particularly the War of National Liberation.
President Déby Itno began an official visit to Algeria on Wednesday.
