Burkina Faso Expels UN Coordinator Carol Flore-Smereczniak

Burkina Faso on Monday, August 18, declared the UN’s resident coordinator persona non grata for her “responsibility” in a report by the UN Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in the country, which the government denounced as spreading “serious and false information” amid ongoing terrorist violence.

“For her responsibility in co-chairing the drafting of a report that compiled data without objective sources, without evidence or justification, and that conveyed serious and false information, Ms. Carol Flore-Smereczniak is declared persona non grata on the territory of Burkina Faso,” the Burkinabe government said in a statement.
