Algerian President orders construction of two Trans-Saharan highway sections, cement plant in Chad

Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered, during a Council of Ministers meeting he chaired on Sunday, undertaking the construction of two sections of the Trans-Saharan Highway and of a cement plant in Chad.
Following a briefing on the follow-up of bilateral cooperation agreements concluded with Chad, the President of the Republic “stressed the importance of deepening cooperation with Chad across all areas and approving new economic projects in energy, electricity generation and oil exploration.” He also called for “accelerating the construction of a cement plant with an annual production capacity exceeding one million tons,” according to the Council of Ministers statement.
The President of the Republic ordered “the immediate undertaking of two sections of the Trans-Saharan Highway by Algerian companies, to complete the remaining part on Chadian territory with the aim of boosting commercial and economic exchanges between the two countries,” said the same source.
