Algerian President insists on completing construction of Niger power plant within next three months

Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, insisted, during the Council of Ministers meeting he chaired on Sunday, on the necessity of completing the construction of the energy production plant in Niger within the next three months, underlining that this “historic” achievement reflects the importance he attaches to bilateral cooperation.

After following a briefing on bilateral cooperation agreements concluded with Niger, the President of the Republic “ordered to broaden the scope of cooperation to encompass priority sectors, in the service of shared interests,” while stressing “the need to complete the construction of the energy production plant within the next three months,” according to the Council of Ministers’ statement.

This is “a historic achievement reflecting the importance that the President of the Republic attaches to this cooperation, in terms of quality and speed in realization,” added the same source.

The President of the Republic stressed Algeria’s willingness to deepen its support and partnership with Niger, a brotherly nation, across additional fields, particularly oil exploration and production, “convinced of its African dimension and depth.” He further called for “stronger monitoring mechanisms and sustained coordination to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of all agreed commitments, through more frequent ministerial visits and the establishment of new communication channels.” The President of the Republic also ordered the launch of a joint media partnership between Algeria and Niger, aimed at supporting these promising bilateral projects, beneficial to the two brotherly peoples.
