
The Algerian Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy, Mourad Adjal, received on Sunday in Algiers a parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by Shahin Ismayilov, president of the Azerbaijan–Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group and chair of the Youth Committee in the National Assembly, as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral energy cooperation, according to a ministry statement.
During the meeting, held in the presence of senior officials from the sector, the head of the Azerbaijani delegation presented an overview of his country’s energy industry and its development, highlighting similarities with Algeria in terms of the value chain, which includes production, transportation, and distribution, as well as consumption patterns. He expressed his country’s willingness to expand areas of cooperation with Algeria, particularly in renewable energy.
For his part, the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energy reviewed the major projects overseen by the sector and the efforts to implement the energy diversification strategy, reaffirming Algeria’s position as a reliable partner and a key player in ensuring energy security at both continental and international levels.
Adjal highlighted the progress achieved in the renewable energy development program, notably the ongoing 15,000 MW production project, in addition to efforts toward a gradual transition to clean energy through the development of green hydrogen, photovoltaic solar energy, and wind energy projects.
The minister further referred to initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and strengthening the energy transition process, as well as the various areas of activity within the sector, including the production, transport, and distribution of electricity and gas, as well as training and related equipment manufacturing.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to hold future expert-level meetings to explore new opportunities for cooperation and expand the partnership in the field of energy and renewable energy.
