UNRWA’s Lazzarini Appeals to International Media for Support of Gaza Journalists

JENIN – Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), called on journalists and international media organizations to support their colleagues in Gaza and press the Zionist entity to permit press crews to enter the Strip. In a post on X, Lazzarini highlighted the ongoing issue of restricted media access to Gaza, noting the critical role of international journalists in covering conflicts and humanitarian crises.

Lazzarini emphasized that for approximately 11 months, international media crews have been barred from entering Gaza freely, hampering their ability to report on the dire humanitarian situation and the impacts of the ongoing conflict. He commended Palestinian journalists for their courage and resilience in continuing to cover the situation despite the dangers they face, including the loss of many of their colleagues.

The UNRWA chief stressed that the presence of international media in Gaza is crucial for providing impartial coverage of the severe humanitarian needs and the extensive relief efforts underway. Lazzarini urged international news organizations to increase pressure on relevant authorities to allow media access, enabling a comprehensive and accurate portrayal of the events in Gaza.
