South Korea to Inspect All Boeing 737-800s Following Fatal Muan Airport Crash

South Korea’s transport ministry announced that it will conduct a thorough inspection of all Boeing 737-800 aircraft in the country after a tragic crash at Muan International Airport.

The crash occurred on Sunday when Jeju Air flight 7C 2216, traveling from Bangkok to Muan with 181 people aboard, overran the runway and crashed into a fence. The accident resulted in 179 fatalities, with only two survivors.

Authorities will inspect the maintenance systems, operation levels, and inspection records of all Boeing 737-800 aircraft operated by local airlines.

The ministry’s focus is on ensuring adherence to all relevant safety regulations, especially after reports of landing gear issues on the ill-fated Jeju Air plane and another aircraft from the same airline.
