Nigeria: 17 Boko Haram Terrorists Eliminated in the Northeast (Military)

The Nigerian army announced that it has eliminated 17 Boko Haram terrorists during operations carried out in Borno and Adamawa states in the northeast of the country, according to local media reports citing military officials.

“The troops of the Northeast Joint Task Force neutralized 17 Boko Haram terrorists during sweep operations in Borno and Adamawa,” stated Captain Reuben Kovangiya, the acting director of public relations for the theater command.

He further explained, “In separate operations conducted in Bula Daburu, Alau Dam, Bitta, Kawuri, Algambari, Ajiri, and Bulabulin, the troops neutralized over 17 Boko Haram terrorists and seized several AK-47 assault rifles, a PKT machine gun, numerous AK-47 magazines, and a significant cache of 7.62mm ammunition.”

Kovangiya also detailed other logistical materials recovered, which included approximately 2,300 liters of diesel, over 1,000 liters of gasoline, two generators, a tricycle, bags of rice, solar panels, and several motorcycles, among other items.

Additionally, he reported that the troops had destroyed 14 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the terrorists.

During the same period, Kovangiya noted that soldiers facilitated the safe return of more than 987 internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their original communities in Mandaragrau, located within the Biu administrative area.
