Korean Air Flight Grounded on Jeju Runway Due to Malfunction, Causing Delays and Cancellations

A Korean Air flight scheduled to go from Jeju to Gimpo stopped on the runway on the night of the 26th due to a malfunction of the aircraft. No one was injured, but a large number of subsequent flights that had to take off were delayed or canceled, causing chaos at Jeju Airport in the middle of the night.
According to the Korea Airports Corporation’s Jeju Airport, Korean Air flight KE1336 to Gimpo stopped on the runway of Jeju Airport at 8:55 p.m. due to a malfunction of the aircraft during takeoff. As a result, 171 passengers on the plane were trapped on board for more than two hours, causing major inconvenience.
About 10 aircraft, which were scheduled to depart one after another, were on standby without taking off, and arrival flights were also delayed, causing major disruptions in air operations.
An official from Korean Air said, “The aircraft was grounded due to a tire defect,” adding, “It took time to move the aircraft to the Boeing tractor because the aircraft is not in a situation where it can move on its own.”
