Algerian Presidential Candidates Propose Solutions to Address the Needs of Diverse Social Groups
Algerian presidential candidates are proposing a range of policies focused on economic reforms, social support, and regional development.
The FFS candidate Youcef Aouchiche promises to establish a “balanced economic system” that empowers national talent to invest and drive development. He emphasizes Algeria’s potential, particularly in the hydrocarbon sector, to bolster economic growth.
Socially, he pledges to tackle youth unemployment and address the specific needs of each region. His proposals include revising wages, increasing benefits for vulnerable groups, and allocating a portion of oil revenues to fund job-creating projects.
The independant candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune, backed by various political parties, is being positioned as the candidate who will continue the progress made during his first term. His supporters, such as the National Democratic Rally (RDN) and the National Liberation Front (FLN), stress his commitment to social support policies, including housing programs, increased benefits for housewives, people with special needs, and civil servants, as well as boosting pensions.
Tebboune’s campaign focuses on building a strong, diversified economy that moves away from reliance on hydrocarbons. His proposed policies include creating 450,000 jobs, raising unemployment benefits, and promoting wealth distribution and economic hubs across the country to ensure balanced development.
The MSP candidate Hassani Cherif focuses on drafting special development programs for southern regions, with a socio-economic approach centered on major projects and infrastructure development. He aims to promote investment in sectors like agriculture and the processing industry, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to create jobs.
He also highlights the importance of regional tourism potential, particularly religious tourism, and stresses the need to protect national products and improve local capacities.
His electoral program, “Forsa” (Opportunity), includes administrative reforms aimed at laying the foundation for sustainable development. He encourages strong voter participation to send a clear message against those attempting to destabilize the country.
Across the board, Algerian presidential candidates are emphasizing economic diversification, social support, and regional development as key components of their platforms. Each candidate is also urging citizens to participate actively in the electoral process to help shape Algeria’s future.
