Iran sends its response to US proposal aimed at ending the war

Iran has formally presented to Pakistani mediators its response to the latest US proposal aimed at ending the war against the country, IRNA news agency reported on Sunday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
According to the proposed plan, the current phase of negotiations is focused exclusively on the cessation of hostilities in the region, the source told IRNA.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously said that Tehran’s views and considerations regarding the US proposals would be transmitted once internal reviews and final conclusions were completed.
Pakistan brokered a ceasefire between Tehran and Washington on April 8 that halted nearly 40 days of joint attacks by the US and the Zionist forces against the Islamic Republic.
This comes as sources in both camps have told the Reuters news agency that the latest peace efforts are aimed at a temporary memorandum of understanding to halt the war and allow traffic through the Strait of Hormuz while they discuss a fuller deal, which would have to address intractable disputes such as Iran’s nuclear programme.
