Iran, Russia Discuss Establishing Parliamentary Union to Counter Sanctions

During a recent meeting in Moscow, officials from the Iranian and Russian parliaments proposed the creation of a parliamentary union for countries facing international sanctions. The discussion took place on Wednesday between five members of Russia’s Federation Council and an Iranian delegation, including Abbas Moqtadaei, the Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, and Abbas Goodarzi, a member of the Parliament and part of the Iran-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The key focus of the meeting was to explore how both countries could collaborate to neutralize the impact of sanctions imposed by the West. Goodarzi emphasized Iran’s resilience in overcoming the challenges posed by U.S. sanctions, highlighting the country’s progress in various sectors despite these economic restrictions. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Islamic Republic to continue its resistance against external pressure while working to make sanctions ineffective.

The proposed parliamentary union aims to strengthen ties between nations that have been sanctioned, allowing them to share resources, strategies, and support in combating these measures.
