IMF Projects Algeria’s GDP to Exceed USD 317 Billion in 2026

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected Algeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at over USD 317 billion for 2026, positioning the country as the leading economy in the Maghreb region.

According to the latest data released by the IMF on its official website, Algeria’s GDP is projected to reach USD 317.17 billion in 2026, up from USD 285.72 billion in 2025, representing an estimated growth rate of 3.8%.

This would place Algeria’s GDP first in the Maghreb and fourth across Africa.

On a Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) basis, Algeria’s GDP for 2026 is estimated at USD 941.54 billion.

The PPP measure is an analytical tool based on comparing price levels across countries. It accounts for differences in the cost of living and in the prices of goods and services, enabling a more accurate assessment of the size of economies and their real productive and consumer capacity, regardless of exchange rate fluctuations.

Unlike nominal GDP, which relies on the official exchange rate, GDP calculated on a Purchasing Power Parity basis is adjusted to reflect the actual standard of living.
