China Calls for Joint Resistance to Hegemony and Intimidation — Defense Minister

Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun on Thursday issued a firm call for countries to unite against hegemony and coercion, presenting Beijing’s vision for safeguarding global security. Speaking on international order, he emphasized China’s readiness to cooperate with “all peace-loving forces” to preserve the legacy of World War II and defend the post-war international system.
Dong underlined that China is prepared to assist other nations’ armed forces in strengthening their capacity to protect legitimate rights and interests, while jointly assuming “the historical responsibility for maintaining global peace.” He warned that external military interventions, power struggles for spheres of influence, and pressure to choose sides threaten to destabilize the world by undermining the principle of sovereign equality.
On Taiwan, the minister reiterated Beijing’s uncompromising stance, declaring that the People’s Liberation Army “will never allow any separatist attempts to achieve independence for Taiwan to succeed.” He further noted that history should remain a reminder of the dangers of hegemonic ambitions and intimidation, stressing the need to uphold peace and justice at the global level.
