Chad: 35 Dead and Six Injured in Southern Region Clash

A clash in southern Chad has resulted in the deaths of thirty-five individuals and injuries to six others, according to a statement released by the Chadian government on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in the village of Mandakao, situated 18 kilometers from Beinamar in the Logone Occidental province. The government release did not specify the parties involved in the conflict.

In response to the situation, Prime Minister Allah-Maye Halina instructed a government delegation, led by the Minister of State for Territorial Administration and Decentralization along with the Minister of Public Security, to visit the area for assessment and to provide necessary support to the affected communities.

The government strongly condemned “these barbaric acts” and stated that “all necessary measures are being taken to identify, apprehend, and bring to justice the perpetrators and their accomplices.”

Additionally, it called for restraint and responsibility from all citizens “in a spirit of peace and national unity.”
