Algeria’s UN Security Council Term Ends on Wednesday

Algeria concluded its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council on Wednesday and will be replaced by Bahrain on Thursday.

Algeria has concluded its term on the Council “after having entirely fulfilled its responsibilities,” said Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Amar Bendjama, in a session of Security Council held last Monday devoted to the international peace and security.

In this regard, Algeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN urged the Security Council members to “work collectively with perseverance and to strive continuously to involve all United Nations’ member States in the Council’s works.” In addition to Algeria, four other countries are also leaving the Security Council this Wednesday, namely: Guyana, Sierra Leone, South Korea, and Slovenia.
