Algerian MDN SG receives Chief of Staff of Tunisian Land Forces (statement)

ALGIERS, 24 Dec 2025 – Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of National Defense, on Wednesday in Algiers received Army Corps General Mohamed El-Ghoul, Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Land Forces, who was accompanied by a high-level military delegation, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).

“Within the framework of the holding in Algeria of the work of the 19th session of the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Commission, tasked with monitoring and overseeing the implementation of military cooperation, during the period from 21 to 25 December 2025, Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, received on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense, Army Corps General Mohamed El-Ghoul, Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Land Forces, accompanied by a high-level military delegation,” the same source specified.

On this occasion, the two sides “held bilateral discussions on areas of common interest, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, in his capacity as head of the Algerian delegation within the Algerian-Tunisian Joint Commission, and the Director of External Relations and Cooperation of the Ministry of National Defense, alongside members of the Tunisian delegation. The two sides also commended the distinguished level and quality of cooperation relations between the armies of the two brotherly countries,” the statement added.

Furthermore, “the Major General, Secretary General of the MDN, welcomed the positive results achieved in the field of military cooperation,” stressing “the importance of permanent and intensive coordination between the two countries to confront the various security challenges, particularly in the area of securing the common borders, in order to limit risks related to terrorism and cross-border crime, illegal immigration, as well as smuggling in all its forms and drug trafficking.”

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides exchanged symbolic gifts, the MDN statement concluded.
