ALGIERS – The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) has registered over 11,000 investment projects as of December, with a total value surpassing 4,400 billion DZD, according to the agency’s director-general, Omar Rekkache, noting that more than 50% of these projects have entered the implementation phase, which reflects the investors’ growing confidence in Algeria’s investment climate.
In a press statement at the first national meeting of the heads of single windows, held under the theme “For Optimal Efficiency in Serving Investment and Investors,” Rekkache explained that “the number of registered investment projects from 2022 to December 10, 2024, had reached 11,076, with a total declared investment amount exceeding 4,450 billion DZD.” He attributed this increase to “the renewed confidence of investors in Algeria’s investment environment.”
These projects, over half of which are already in the implementation stage, are expected to create nearly 270,000 jobs, based on the commitments of their developers, Rekkache added.
On this occasion, the director-general emphasised that the agency is “fully committed to achieving the ambitious goal of implementing 20,000 investment projects in the medium term, starting with a new strategy in 2025.”
This strategy will focus on “accelerating the processing of real estate requests while expanding the real estate portfolio with sufficient plots, which currently includes 1,900 plots. The plan also includes the creation of new industrial zones and activity areas to meet the growing demand for economic land.”
Regarding the meeting, which was attended by directors-general of customs, taxation, and national properties, heads of public sector groups, representatives of various ministries, as well as Algerian and international experts, the director-general highlighted that it is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the agency’s efficiency, which has made significant strides in improving its services and performance.
He added that the meeting marks “a significant step toward establishing a permanent tradition of consultation, performance evaluation, accountability, and discussions on ways to improve services for project developers.” Rekkache also announced that “an annual competition will be held to recognise the best window in order to encourage performance improvement.”
