Algerian Foreign Ministry Revokes French Embassy’s Privileged Access Permits to Algerian Ports and Airports

ALGIERS – The Chargé d’affaires of the French Embassy in Algeria was once again summoned on Saturday to the Ministry regarding the continued obstacles faced by the Algerian Embassy in Paris in delivering and receiving the diplomatic pouches, which constitute a blatant violation of the international obligations incumbent upon the French government, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

According to the statement, these obstacles, which were initially limited to the Algerian Embassy in Paris, have been expanded to include the Algerian consular centers in France, despite the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ pledge to reconsider this measure.

In the strict application of the principle of reciprocity, the Director of Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revoked all privileged access permits to Algerian ports and airports that had been granted to the French Embassy in Algeria, the source added.
