Algeria, Türkiye Sign Several Bilateral Cooperation Agreements

The Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune co-chaired Thursday evening in Ankara, alongside his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the signing ceremony of several bilateral cooperation agreements covering sectors including industry, trade, agriculture, information, postal services and transport.
The agreements and memorandums of understanding, signed at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, notably include a cooperation protocol between Algeria’s Public Television Establishment (EPTV) and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) in the field of television. The document was signed by Algeria’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Boumediene Guennad, and TRT Director General Mehmet Zahid Sobaci.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI) and the Investment and Finance Office under the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye on cooperation in investment promotion. The document was signed by AAPI Director General Omar Rekkache and President of the Turkish Investment and Finance Office Burak Daglioglu.
Another memorandum of understanding was signed between Algeria’s Ministry of Communication and the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in the field of combating disinformation. The document was signed by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs Ahmed Attaf and Head of Communications at the Turkish Presidency Burhanettin Duran.
Within the same framework, the two countries signed a joint declaration between Algeria’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion and the Turkish Ministry of Trade regarding the launch of negotiations aimed at concluding a preferential trade agreement. The document was signed by Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig and Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat.
The list also includes an agreement between the Algerian Government and its Turkish counterpart in the field of plant protection and agricultural quarantine, signed by Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid and Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ibrahim Yumakli.
Moreover, Minister of Industry Yahia Bachir and Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacir signed a memorandum of understanding between their ministries on cooperation in standardization, conformity assessment and training, as well as a memorandum of understanding related to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In addition, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Saïd Sayoud and Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci signed a memorandum of understanding between their ministries on disaster and emergency management.
On the same occasion, an agreement between Algeria and Türkiye on the mutual recognition of driving licences was signed by Minister Saïd Sayoud and Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Algerian Government and its Turkish counterpart in the field of protection of moudjahidine and right holders of chouhada. The document was signed by Ahmed Attaf and Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas.
Bilateral cooperation was further strengthened through an agreement between the Algerian and Turkish governments relating to international road transport of passengers and goods, signed by Saïd Sayoud and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on cooperation in postal and telecommunications services, signed by Ahmed Attaf and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
Finally, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed the Joint Declaration of the first session of the Algeria-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
